October 6, 2016, in Wichita was probably the most unforgettable morning I ever had working in TV news. At the time, Maria was pregnant with our son, Remy. That morning, she woke up with me as I was getting ready for the morning show and calmly told me she was in labor. She insisted I go to work, saying she'd be fine for a few hours. I headed in, and soon after, I got sent to cover breaking news near the mall on the east side.

Just as I was setting up for my live shot, Maria called and said, "You need to come home now." I rushed back, and we quickly dropped off our oldest daughter, Ellie, at daycare before heading straight to the hospital. When we arrived at the Wesley Birthing Center, I parked the van and hurried inside, only to find Maria on the floor. My first thought was, "What the hell is going on?" The nurses and doctors informed us we were having a baby right there on the floor. I couldn't believe it—it all felt surreal.

The entire morning was a whirlwind, and looking back, it's all a blur. Our three years in Wichita were filled with many memories, but that moment stands out. I used to joke that we had a kid in every TV market where I worked—our youngest was born in Kansas City, and our oldest in Pittsburg.

It’s hard to believe Remy is already 8 years old. He loves playing sports, collecting Pokémon, and exploring space and science. I couldn’t ask for a better son.
