Working in TV means you are probably working most holidays. I remember Thanksgiving day and that weekend I usually had to work. Once in Kansas City there was a terrible snowstorm that hit the Saturday after the holiday in 2018.  When I worked at KOAM-TV I had to run the assignment desk. Those days had no phone calls and there was hardly anyone in the newsroom. During those days I would watch a lot of NFL football and I took a long lunch break at my parents house. The extra pay was also pretty nice for having to work on Thanksgiving. When I was Wichita, KWCH-TV loved live shots. Black Friday meant being live in the stores. Shane and I got full access to Academy Sports. I think we were live for 6 hours that morning. There was no stopping during that morning. I am thankful I am now in higher education and I can take the whole week off of Thanksgiving.
