Travis Kelce Spreads Holiday Cheer with Kids at JCPenney

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already December. Where did the time go this year?

December always brings a mix of emotions for me, especially reflecting on my 13 years in the news industry. It was a season filled with festive stories that warmed my heart and freezing weather that made covering them a little less pleasant.

One of my favorite December stories happened in 2018 when I was working in Kansas City. Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce went shopping with kids at JCPenney, and it was a joy to cover. His interactions with the kids were so genuine and heartwarming that it made the cold weather worth it. The footage was so good, I knew it had to be archived—it was one of those moments you just don’t want to forget.

December may be chilly, but it’s moments like these that remind me why I loved storytelling in the first place.
