It hadn't occurred to me that two of my favorite stories from 2019 happened on consecutive days. One involved Cat Reid, and the other featured Dia Wall—both exceptional storytellers adept at transitioning from writing to video seamlessly. I always looked forward to collaborating with them during my shifts, knowing they'd deliver compelling narratives.
The first story unfolded on February 12, 2019, amid a winter in Kansas City blanketed with snow and ice, resulting in potholes scattered throughout the city. Capturing this story thrilled me due to the dynamic action it involved, with plenty of engaging sounds and movements to film.
The following day, February 13, 2019, I had the pleasure of working on another memorable story with Cat, part of the inspiring Safe KC series. This series spotlighted individuals dedicated to enhancing the city. Filming alongside Cat was enjoyable; I relished the opportunity to illuminate our subjects and admired the artwork displayed in the studio. Moreover, I felt a sense of pride in highlighting an individual leveraging the arts for personal growth.
Reflecting on those experiences, I remain grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Dia and Cat. Their contributions played a significant role in bolstering my resume and ultimately securing my dream job back in Pittsburg at my alma mater.
