From City Stories to Small-Town Life: My Return to Pittsburg and Fond Memories of Wichita's Zoo

I was excited to return to Pittsburg/Frontenac in 2019 after spending time working in Wichita and Kansas City. However, there are some aspects of city life I miss. For example, I loved visiting the zoo in Wichita, especially with my oldest daughter. We had a zoo pass, making it an easy and affordable way to entertain a toddler. As a news photographer, I also had the chance to visit the zoo for work. One memorable day was September 25, 2015, when the Sedgwick County Zoo announced they were getting six more elephants to join Stephanie, their lone elephant at the time. A few years later, they built a new area for the elephants, and I got to cover several stories on that as well.
