On March 17, 2019, while stationed in Kansas City for work, I found myself immersed in the excitement of Selection Sunday in Lawrence, Kansas, attending KU's press conference on their tournament seeding. As a youngster, I relished the frenzy of March Madness, eagerly anticipating the suspenseful selection show on CBS. Covering such events was a dream on my journalistic bucket list, and this one had a special aura as it marked the unofficial kickoff of the tournament.
Fast forward to today, and my relationship with college basketball has evolved. Cable-less living, graduate school commitments, fatherhood, and the responsibilities of pet ownership have shifted my viewing habits. Yet, are these not legitimate excuses? This month, I anticipate tuning in to more radio broadcasts of the games, ironically embracing a medium I once watched fervently on TV. Such is the irony of a former TV enthusiast.
