March 7, 2017 was a hectic week for me as I reported on the wildfires in Reno County, Kansas. It was a completely new experience for me since I hadn't covered anything like this before. Unlike Joplin and Pittsburg, there hadn't been wildfires of this scale. I remember working the morning shift on the 7th and heading north of Hutchinson, Kansas, where most of the damage had occurred. Throughout that day and the following week, I assisted in streaming press conferences held by officials and reported on various groups donating supplies or aiding the victims. With 13 years in TV news under my belt, I can confidently say it was one of the worst disasters I've ever covered.
