From Tornado Recovery to Cherished Memories: Meeting Freddy Simon of Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers

In the summer of 2011, many people came to Joplin for the recovery and cleanup efforts following the devastating tornado. On July 11th of that year, Freddy Simon, the founder and owner of Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, visited the town. His business on Rangeline Road had been affected by the storm. Freddy came to present a check to the city and to support families in need. Although I don’t recall much from that day, I remember that he was kind and very pleasant to chat with, both on and off camera. Fast forward to today, my kids love eating at his restaurant in Pittsburg, and I enjoy sharing with them the story of the time I met Freddy.
