On June 27, 2018, I covered a tornado in Eureka, Kansas. This event was particularly striking because the town had been struck by a tornado just a year earlier. I felt a deep sympathy for the community, enduring such hardship again. That week, the weather was hot, and most of the city had no power, but cell service was poor, making it challenging to send video footage back to Wichita. Over my years as a photographer, I observed that in small communities, people consistently step up and help wherever needed. This tornado story was the second-to-last one I covered in my TV news career.
