I remember the night before June 6, 2012. I was playing softball when Michael Admire mentioned that we were heading to Oklahoma City to cover the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. I was thrilled because the Thunder were just one game away from winning the series—a potential historic moment for both the franchise and the state of Oklahoma. The day was cloudy with a chance of rain, but thankfully, basketball is played indoors. Admire and I gathered various fan reactions before the game for our early shows. As a self-proclaimed sports nerd, I relished the opportunity. Of all sporting events, I love pregame the most. It’s a chance to get up close to athletes and national sports media members. Being a '90s kid, seeing Shaq, Charles Barkley, and Reggie Miller was especially cool. The Thunder winning the series was a memorable moment, one I look back on with gratitude for having covered.
